AN ACT relative to speed limits on municipal ways.

This bill allows local authorities to set speed limits by ordinance and such ordinance shall give notice of the speed limit in place of signs.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

AN ACT relative to speed limits on municipal ways.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Alteration of Limits; Notice by Ordinance. Amend RSA 265:63, III to read as follows:

III. Any altered limit established as hereinabove authorized shall be effective at all times or during hours of darkness or at other times as may be determined when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon such street or way or when the governing body had adopted a speed limit ordinance which establishes the speed limit for the arterial ways, which ordinance shall serve to give notice thereof without further signs.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2007.
