AN ACT relative to the use of land for hunting.

This bill requires the fish and game department to study all land not open to hunting, and to recommend allowing hunting on such land where possible.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

AN ACT relative to the use of land for hunting.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Open Lands; Recommendation of Use for Hunting. Amend RSA 206 by inserting after section 21 the following new section:

206:21-a Open Lands; Recommendation of Use for Hunting. The executive director, under the direction of the fish and game commission, shall undertake a study of public and private lands in this state which are not open for hunting. The study shall include all lands owned or controlled by political subdivisions of the state, all lands acquired with municipal or state funds, and all lands subject to conservation restrictions including those held by trusts or nonprofit corporations. The study shall review the laws and concerns applicable to such land and shall determine if the land, or a portion thereof, should be recommended as suitable for hunting. The executive director, upon a favorable recommendation for the use of such open land for hunting, shall make a report stating such recommendation to the governor and council, the president of the senate, and the speaker of the house of representatives.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
