AN ACT relative to requiring approval for extended absences for elected county officers.

This bill requires an elected county officer who wishes to take an absence from the position for more than 2 weeks, except for the case of illness, to get prior approval from the county commissioners.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six
AN ACT relative to requiring approval for extended absences for elected county officers.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Elected County Officers; Approval for Extended Absence from Position. Amend RSA 23 by inserting after section 6 the following new section:
23:6-a Elected County Officers; Approval for Extended Absence from Position. A county attorney, sheriff, register of deeds, or treasurer who wishes to take an absence from the duties of the position in the county for a period which exceeds 2 weeks, except in the case of an illness, shall be required to seek prior approval from the county commissioners for such absence.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
