STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

AN ACT relative to the duties of the advisory committee on the education of children/students with disabilities.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Subparagraphs; Advisory Committee; Duties Amended. Amend RSA 186-C:3-b, IV by inserting after subparagraph (f) the following new subparagraphs:

(g) Advise school districts on matters pertaining to the education and safety of pupils with educational disabilities.

(h) Meet with school district officials to participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of the school district’s education programs and services and recommend improvements or adjustments to such programs and services as deemed necessary.

(i) Work with school districts to ensure that all school-level parental involvement policies meet the requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, and that each school includes, as a component, a school-parent compact consistent with the ESEA.

(j) Conduct at least one workshop each year concerning the rights of educationally disabled pupils and their parents or legal guardians under federal and state education laws. This may be satisfied by regional workshops which may be operated by councils cooperating with each other or by seeking the assistance of the department of education.

(k) Publicize on a statewide basis, and in the most cost-effective manner possible, the times, dates, and locations of advisory committee meetings.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
