STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

A RESOLUTION urging the Department of Homeland Security to study New Hampshire’s northern border and protection for our dam network.

Whereas, the United States of America continues to fight the Global War on Terrorism; and

Whereas, the northern border of New Hampshire remains exposed to potential covert infiltration by terrorist elements; and

Whereas, northern New Hampshire’s rivers host a network of dams that could present an attractive target to terrorists because of their proximity to the border and their importance to public safety and preserving the regional economy; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the general court of New Hampshire hereby urges the Department of Homeland Security to improve New Hampshire’s northern border security; and

That the general court of New Hampshire hereby urges the Department of Homeland Security to assess the safety of and suggest improvements to northern New Hampshire’s dam network; and

That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, the President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and to each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
