STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

A RESOLUTION urging Congress to reevaluate Title IX.

Whereas Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the first comprehensive federal law to prohibit sex discrimination against students and employees of public educational institutions; and

Whereas many prominent men’s athletic programs have suffered as a result of the requirements of Title IX; and

Whereas the general court finds that the spirit of Title IX is laudable but its implementation has not enhanced the educational mission of the institutions affected; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

That Congress reevaluate Title IX and its implementation and effect on educational institutions; and

That the clerk of the house of representatives forward copies of this resolution to the members of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
