AN ACT relative to membership of the board of tax and land appeals.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

AN ACT relative to membership of the board of tax and land appeals.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Board of Tax and Land Appeals; Membership. RSA 71-B:2 is repealed and reenacted to read as follows:

71-B:2 Appointment; Term; Chairman.

I. The members of the board shall be appointed as follows:

(a) Two members appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the council.

(b) One member appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

(c) One member appointed by the president of the senate.

II. All appointments shall be for a 5-year term and until their successors are appointed and qualified; provided, however, that any vacancy on the board shall be filled for the unexpired term.

III. The governor shall designate one member as chairperson to serve in that capacity for the duration of his or her term.

2 Application. Persons serving on the board of tax and land appeals immediately prior to the effective date of this act may continue to serve for the remainder of their terms. Vacancies in the membership on the board of tax and land appeals occurring after the effective date of this act shall be filled as provided by RSA 71-B:2 as amended by this act, with appointing authority in reverse of the order listed in paragraph I of that section.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2007.
