AN ACT relative to the identification of persons and organizations petitioning for a citizen initiative or referendum.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven

AN ACT relative to the identification of persons and organizations petitioning for a citizen initiative or referendum.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; City Charters; Referendum and Initiatives. Amend RSA 49-C:33 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraph:

III. Any citizen petition for referendum or imitative under subparagraphs (a) or (b) shall identify the persons or organizations undertaking the referendum or initiative so that all potential signers may contact the person or organization.

2 New Section; Referendum and Initiatives. Amend RSA 31 by inserting after section 103 the following new section:

31:103-a Referendum and Initiatives; Identification Required. Any citizen petition for referendum or initiative allowed by a town shall identify the persons or organizations undertaking the referendum or initiative so that all potential signers may contact the person or organization.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
