This bill requires alternative providers who engage in mental heath practice to register with the board of mental health practice. Current law provides that such persons may elect to register with the board.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven
AN ACT relative to alternative providers for certain health services.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
83:1 Definitions; “Alternative Providers.” Amend RSA 330-A:2, I to read as follows:
I. “Alternative provider’’ means a person who, for remuneration, engages in any aspect of mental health practice as defined in RSA 330-A:2, VI, but does not hold a license issued under this chapter to practice as a licensed psychologist, pastoral psychotherapist, clinical social worker, clinical mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist, and who [may elect to be] has registered with the board prior to July 1, 2007.
83:2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2007.
