AN ACT relative to coercion of abortion on a minor.

ANALYSIS

This bill establishes a class A felony if a person uses or threatens the use of physical force against a pregnant minor under 18 years of age in order to force the minor to have an abortion. The bill also establishes a class B felony if a person uses coercion to induce such a minor to have an abortion against her will.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven

AN ACT relative to coercion of abortion on a minor.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Assault on a Pregnant Minor; Coercion of Abortion on a Minor. Amend RSA 631 by inserting after section 2-a the following new section:

631:2-b Assault on a Pregnant Minor; Coercion of Abortion on a Minor.

I. A person is guilty of a class A felony if the person uses or threatens the use of physical force against a pregnant minor under 18 years of age to force the minor to have an abortion.

II. A person is guilty of a class B felony if the person uses coercion to induce a pregnant minor under 18 years of age to have an abortion against her will.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2008.
