STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eight
AN ACT naming route 202 in Strafford county the Charles E. Smith Memorial Highway.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
220:1 Strafford County; Charles E. Smith Memorial Highway. That portion of route 202 in Strafford county, beginning at the Barrington-Nottingham town line and running easterly to the junction with the Spaulding turnpike at exit 13, is hereby named the Charles E. Smith Memorial Highway in honor of Charles E. Smith who, in 1891, was the first deputy sheriff to die in the line of duty in New Hampshire. Appropriate signage may be placed along the highway.
220:2 Signage. The cost of design, construction, maintenance, and installation of any signage, replacement signage, or other markers authorized under section 1 of this act shall not be a charge to the state. However, the design, construction, and installation of any signage or other markers authorized under this act shall be approved by the department of transportation.
220:3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
