HB 1595-FN - FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT relative to driver’s license renewals by persons engaged in overseas government service.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Safety determined this bill will increase state highway fund expenditures by $44,722 in FY 2009 and by $972 in FY 2010 and each year thereafter. There will be no fiscal impact on county and local expenditures and on state, county or local revenue.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department of Safety stated this bill authorizes driver’s license renewals by persons engaged in oversea governmental service. The Department assumes the bill will become effective July 1, 2008, costs will be a charge against the highway fund and indicated the implementation of the bill will result in programming changes to the licensing software. The Office of Information Technology indicated this would be contracted with a third party vendor with an estimated one-time cost of $43,750 in FY 2009. In addition the Department estimates that 324 extensions will be requested annually at a cost of $3 per mailing resulting in an annual expenditure of $972 in FY 2009 and each year thereafter.
