STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seven

AN ACT relative to random recounts.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Additional Recounts. Amend RSA 660 by inserting after section 4 the following new section:

660:4-a Additional Recounts. Following each state general election, the secretary of state shall schedule 3 recounts of house of representative districts in addition to those recounts requested by the candidates. The districts shall be randomly selected from those districts using electronic ballot counting machines. The recounts shall be conducted in accordance with RSA 660:5. The secretary of state shall report the results of the random recounts to the attorney general.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
