ANALYSIS

This bill revises the statute on tuition waivers for children of firefighters and police officers who attend an approved postsecondary educational institution. The bill also permits such children to apply for a room and board scholarship to cover room and board costs, to the extent of available funds, and creates a room and board scholarship fund in the office of the state treasurer. The room and board scholarship fund replaces the existing chancellor’s scholarship endowment trust fund.
