AN ACT relative to hospital rules for paramedics.

This bill prohibits hospitals from establishing their own rules which influence protocols for paramedics and other emergency medical personnel when determining which course of treatment is best for the patient.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine

AN ACT relative to hospital rules for paramedics.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Treatment by Emergency Medical Personnel. Amend RSA 151 by inserting after section 9-b the following new section:

151:9-c Treatment by Emergency Medical Personnel. Hospitals shall not establish their own rules which influence general or specific protocols for paramedics and other emergency personnel when such persons are determining the best course of treatment for a patient, including whether to airlift the patient.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2010.
