HOUSE BILL 437

AN ACT relative to the operation of the Chesterfield welcome and information center.

AMENDED ANALYSIS

This bill:

I. Modifies the way revenue from rental and lease payments from the liquor commission for use of the Chesterfield welcome center may be used.

II. Requires other revenues from the Chesterfield welcome center to be deposited in the travel and tourism revolving fund.

This bill is a request of the department of transportation and the department of resources and economic development.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine

AN ACT relative to the operation of the Chesterfield welcome and information center.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

160:1 Capital Appropriations; Highway Fund. Amend 2007, 264:2, II, D to read as follows:

D. Chesterfield Welcome Center* 3,000,000

*I. Rental or lease payments received from the liquor commission for use of the Chesterfield welcome center property shall be applied first to debt service incurred for construction on the property, and then to the costs of staffing, maintaining, and operating the building at the Chesterfield welcome center. The revenue generated from retail enterprises for the sale of New Hampshire made products, literature, brochure display fees, and advertising, shall be deposited in the travel and tourism revolving fund established in RSA 12-A:15-a and used to operate and maintain other welcome centers on New Hampshire highways.

*II. The commissioner of the department of transportation may negotiate and enter into contracts with other state agencies or private sector entities or both, to insure continued operation and maintenance of the Chesterfield welcome center, and may set dates for contractual obligations with the other contracting party or agency.

160:2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
