HB 551-FN-A - FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT making an appropriation for the painting of the arch bridge across the Connecticut River in Chesterfield.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Transportation states this bill will increase state expenditures by $2.5 million in FY 2010. This bill will have no fiscal impact on state, county, and local revenues or county and local expenditures.

This bill appropriates $1 from the general fund to the Department of Transportation in FY 2009 for said purposes of this bill.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department of Transportation states this bill makes an appropriation to the Department of Transportation for the painting of the 1937 arch bridge over the Connecticut River in Chesterfield. The Department states the cost associated with painting a structure similar in surface area, condition, location, accessibility and complexity in January 2008 was $2.4 million. Taking into consideration 3% inflation over the past year, the Department estimates the cost to paint this bridge at $2.5 million in FY 2010. The Department notes the current status of this project is that it was deferred from the Ten Year Plan due to financial constraint and is not included in the current Ten Year Plan.
