AN ACT naming a certain portion of route 18 in the town of Franconia in honor of Corporal Bruce McKay.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine

AN ACT naming a certain portion of route 18 in the town of Franconia in honor of Corporal Bruce McKay.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Corporal Bruce McKay Memorial Highway. Pursuant to RSA 4:43, that portion of route 18 in the town of Franconia between the intersection of U.S. Route 93 and route 141, also known as 3 Mile Hill, shall be named the Corporal Bruce McKay Memorial Highway in honor of Corporal Bruce McKay of the Franconia police department who was killed in the line of duty on May 11, 2007. Corporal McKay was committed to his job as a law enforcement officer and prosecutor for the town of Franconia. While on duty, Corporal McKay patrolled the areas designated. He loved the area, and enjoyed hiking, fishing, swimming, picnicking, and photographing the area, especially Echo and Profile Lakes and the White Mountains. Appropriate signage may be placed along the designated portion of the highway.

2 Signage. The cost of design, construction, maintenance, and installation of any signage, replacement signage, or other markers authorized under section 1 of this act shall not be a charge to the state. However, the design, construction, and installation of any signage or other markers authorized under this act shall be approved by the department of transportation.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
