AN ACT relative to the minimum period of service for eligibility for the veterans’ property tax credit.

ANALYSIS

This bill reduces the minimum days of service in a war or conflict to be eligible for the veterans’ tax credit from 90 to 30. This change takes effect in a town or city only upon its adoption by the town or city pursuant to RSA 72:27-a.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine

AN ACT relative to the minimum period of service for eligibility for the veterans’ property tax credit.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Standard and Optional Veterans’ Tax Credit; Service in Qualifying War or Conflict. Amend RSA 72:28, IV(a) to read as follows:

(a) Every resident of this state who served not less than [90] 30 days in the armed forces of the United States in any qualifying war or armed conflict listed in this section and was honorably discharged or an officer honorably separated from service; or the spouse or surviving spouse of such resident;

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect April 1, 2009.
