STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Ten

AN ACT establishing a New Hampshire aerospace commission.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Chapter; New Hampshire Aerospace Commission. Amend RSA by inserting after chapter 12-M the following new chapter:

CHAPTER 12-N

NEW HAMPSHIRE AEROSPACE COMMISSION

12-N:1 New Hampshire Aerospace Commission Established. There is established a New Hampshire aerospace commission. The commission shall facilitate the acquisition, preservation, and display of important artifacts of the space program, emphasizing those artifacts that relate to Alan B. Shepard and Christa McAuliffe from the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and space shuttle missions and the Teacher in Space Program. The commission may seek and accept outside funding in the form of gifts, grants, and donations to fulfill commission duties.

12-N:2 Membership.

I. There shall be 5 members of the New Hampshire aerospace commission appointed by the governor. The members shall be qualified by their knowledge of the space program or aviation or their background in science, education, historic preservation, business, transportation, or media relations.

II. The members of the New Hampshire aerospace commission shall serve for 3 years and until a successor is appointed and qualified, except that the terms of 2 of the initial members shall be for 2 years.

III. The members of the commission shall annually elect a chairman and any other officers deemed necessary by the members from among the members of the commission.

IV. Members of the commission shall receive no compensation.

12-N:3 Meetings. The New Hampshire aerospace commission shall meet as often as deemed necessary by the members, provided that the commission meets no less than 4 times per year.

12-N:4 Reports. The New Hampshire aerospace commission shall report on its activities at least once every 2 years. The commission shall file its reports with the governor, the house clerk, and the senate clerk. The offices of the governor, the house clerk, and the senate clerk shall provide clerical assistance in preparing reports upon request of the commission.

2 Repeal. RSA 12-N, relative to the New Hampshire aerospace commission, is repealed.

3 Effective Date.

I. Section 2 of this act shall take effect January 1, 2021.

II. The remainder of this act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
