AN ACT relative to promotion of the state parks.

ANALYSIS

This bill requires the director of parks and recreation and the director of travel and tourism development to jointly formulate an annual promotional program for state park facilities. The bill also requires state park management agreements to be part of the annual promotional program unless the park has unique cultural or biological value that could be damaged by increased public access.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Ten

AN ACT relative to promotion of the state parks.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Promotion of Park Facilities. Amend RSA 216-A:3-f, I to read as follows:

I. The director of parks and recreation in consultation with the director of economic development and the director of travel and tourism development shall formulate an annual promotion program for state park facilities.

2 New Paragraph; Promotion of Park Facilities; Annual Promotional Plans. Amend RSA 216-A:3-f by inserting after paragraph III the following new paragraph:

IV. If the division of parks and recreation enters into any lease, management agreement, or other agreement with any public or private entity at the state or federal level for the operation, development, or maintenance of park recreational areas or facilities, the division shall promote such agreements in their annual promotional plan for state parks, unless the state park has a unique cultural or biological value and public access would cause significant damage to the park.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
