HB 507 FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT requiring the department of transportation to establish a storage depot for storing historic bridge parts.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Transportation states this bill will increase state highway fund expenditures by $305,000 in FY 2012, and by $5,000 in FY 2013 and each year thereafter. There will be no fiscal impact on state, county, or local revenue or on county or local expenditures.

METHODOLOGY:

This bill requires the Department of Transportation to establish a storage depot in the city of Concord for storing historic bridge parts. The Department of Transportation states the proposed legislation would require a vacant, level 5 acre parcel of land in the Concord area that would allow for the open storage of historic bridge parts. Based on a review of parcels currently available in the Concord area that would fulfill these requirements, the Department estimates a purchase price of approximately $300,000. In addition to the purchase price of the parcel, the Department estimates yearly maintenance and upkeep costs for the depot to be approximately $5,000 per year. This results in an increase of highway fund expenditures of $305,000 ($300,000 + $5,000) in FY 2012 and $5,000 in FY 2013 and each year thereafter.

This bill does not contain an appropriation.
