STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eleven

AN ACT prohibiting the state payment of the cost of wireless communications services for legislators and staff.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Legislative Officers and Proceedings; Wireless Communications Services. Amend RSA 14 by inserting after section 14-c the following new section:

14:14-d Wireless Communications Services. Notwithstanding any prior authorization to the contrary, no state funds shall be expended for the provision of or reimbursement of the cost of wireless telecommunications services for members of the general court or the legislative staff.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.

HB 561-FN - FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT prohibiting the state payment of the cost of wireless communications services for legislators and staff.

FISCAL IMPACT:

      The Legislative Branch states this bill will reduce state general fund expenditures by $18,732 in FY 2012 and in each fiscal year there after. There is no fiscal impact on state revenues or county and local revenues or expenditures.

METHODOLOGY:

    The Branch states this bill provides that no state funds shall be expended for wireless telecommunication services for members of the General Court or legislative staff. The Branch states there are currently 35 state-owned wireless telecommunication devices being used by legislators and legislative staff. The Branch states in FY 2010 total wireless telecommunication expenditures totaled $18,732 and it expects this bill will reduce state general fund expenditures by this amount in FY 2012 and in each fiscal year thereafter.
