AN ACT relative to the grounds for termination of employment of a school administrative unit or school district employee.

AMENDED ANALYSIS

This bill requires the termination of employment of any school administrative unit or school district employee for conviction of homicide, or any sexual offense or offense against a child which would require the employee to register as a criminal offender or an offender against children under RSA 651-B.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT relative to the grounds for termination of employment of a school administrative unit or school district employee.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 School Boards, Teachers; Dismissal of Teacher. Amend RSA 189:14-d to read as follows:

189:14-d Termination of Employment. [Employees] An employee of a school administrative unit or school district in this state who [have] has been convicted of homicide, [child pornography, aggravated felonious sexual assault, felonious sexual assault, or kidnapping,] or any sexual offense or offense against a child, as those terms are defined in RSA 651-B, which would require the employee to register as a sexual offender or an offender against children under RSA 651-B in this state or under any statute prohibiting the same conduct in another state, territory, or possession of the United States, shall have [their] his or her employment terminated by the school administrative unit or school district after it receives notice of the conviction.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
