STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Thirteen

AN ACT relative to attending a public school or public academy outside of the school district in which the pupil resides.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; School District; Pupil Exchange. Amend RSA 194 by inserting after section 14 the following new section:

194:14-a Pupil Exchange. Notwithstanding RSA 193:13, a school district may enter into a pupil exchange agreement with another school district to allow a pupil in grades kindergarten through grade 12 to attend a public school or public academy in a district outside of the district in which the pupil resides. The school board of the each school district shall agree upon the number of seats available for the exchange agreement in each school year, and the tuition amount to be charged for those seats, if any. Notwithstanding RSA 189:6, no school district shall be responsible for any transportation costs related to participation in the exchange program. All other costs of entering into a pupil exchange shall be borne by the pupil’s parents or legal guardian.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
