AN ACT relative to recommendations by the department of revenue administration regarding municipal fund balance retention.

This bill requires the commissioner of the department of revenue administration to determine the specific percentage of general fund operating expenditures that he or she recommends that each town retain as a fund balance.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fourteen

AN ACT relative to recommendations by the department of revenue administration regarding municipal fund balance retention.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Department of Revenue Administration; Duties of Commissioner; Fund Balance Recommendation. Amend RSA 21-J:3 by inserting after paragraph XXIX the following new paragraph:

XXX. When recommending a percentage of regular general fund operating expenditures to be retained by a town as a fund balance, establish a formula for determining the specific percentage for each town and calculate the amount to be retained.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
