STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fourteen

AN ACT relative to the employment of elected officials.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Gifts, Honorarium, and Expense Reimbursements; Employment of Elected Officials. Amend RSA 15-B by inserting after section 7 the following new section:

15-B:7-a Employment of Elected Officials; Conflicts of Interest Prohibited. No elected official shall accept employment during the elected official’s term of office from an employer who is subject to or likely to become subject to or interested in any matter or action pending before, or contemplated by, the elected official or the governmental body with which that person is affiliated, or where the situation, circumstance, or financial interest of the employment has the potential to cause a private interest to interfere with the proper exercise of a public duty.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2015.
