Memorializing State Representative Lester W. Bradley of Thornton

WHEREAS, we have learned with great sorrow of the death of our friend and colleague Lester W. Bradley of Thornton, who was serving his second term representing Grafton County District #6, the towns of Ellsworth, Groton, Orange, Rumney and Thornton; and

WHEREAS, Lester Bradley served with distinction on the Science, Technology and Energy Committee, where his colleagues appreciated his thoughtful deliberation on the many complex subjects within their jurisdiction; and

WHEREAS, Les Bradley, a man who could make people smile through the joy of his music, had a loyal following of fans who enjoyed his bluegrass and gospel renditions and do-si-do’d their way through the square dances he called, including when he proudly represented the State of New Hampshire at the 1999 Smithsonian Folk Festival in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, Les Bradley was a graduate of Lincoln High School and the University of New Hampshire, a veteran of the Marine Corps who returned to New Hampshire where he worked in the great outdoors, joined the New Hampshire National Guard, was a long time member of the American Legion Post 83 and a member for over 50 years of the
West Thornton Grange; a man who cared about and interacted with the people and families of the communities he represented, following in the footsteps of his father, Richard L. Bradley, who served seven terms in the House ending in 1975; and

WHEREAS, Lester Bradley was a man who loved and was loved by his family and his many friends, a man who enjoyed music, had a bright twinkle in his eye, and loved the North Country of New Hampshire, now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the New Hampshire House of Representatives in Regular Session convened, that Lester W. Bradley be granted the highest praise and accolades for his dedicated service to his community, his state and his country, and be it further

RESOLVED, that expressions of heartfelt sympathy be extended to his family and a suitable copy of this Resolution be prepared for presentation to them.
