STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Sixteen

 

AN ACT\trelative to multiple indictments in criminal prosecutions.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

\t1  Indictments, Necessity  Amend RSA 601:1 to read as follows:

\t601:1  Indictments, Necessity.  No person shall be tried for any offense, the punishment of which may be death or imprisonment for more than one year, unless upon an indictment found against such person by the grand jury of the county or judicial district thereof in which the offense is committed or is triable.  The grand jury shall not issue more than one indictment per criminal act.

\t2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
