SB 454-FN- FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT\trequiring public school students to receive CPR training.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Education states this bill, as introduced, may increase local expenditures by an indeterminable amount in FY 2017 and each year thereafter.  There will be no impact on state, county, and local revenues or state and county expenditures.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department of Education states this bill would require school districts to incorporate CPR training into the health education class required for graduation.  The Department assumes this training would only be required in high schools of which there are 96 in the state, including charter public schools.  The Department assumes the cost for an American Heart Association “CPR In Schools” training kit, which includes all necessary equipment and teaching guides, costs $625.  Local expenditures may increase to the extent a school district may not have existing resources to comply with the teaching requirement included in this bill.
