ANALYSIS

 

This bill authorizes the director of the division of motor vehicles to suspend the license of a youth operator while an accident involving death or bodily injury is investigated.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

 

AN ACT relative to accidents involving youth operators of motor vehicles.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

241:1  New Subparagraph; Youth Operators' Licenses; Suspension Following Accident.  Amend RSA 263:14, III by inserting after subparagraph (e) the following new subparagraph:

(f)  The director, after a hearing, may suspend or revoke a youth operator's license upon receipt of proper evidence or information that the holder was involved in an accident resulting in death or serious bodily injury while the youth operator was operating a motor vehicle in violation of any prohibition or restriction in this section.  A suspension under this subparagraph may be in effect for up to 12 months while the appropriate law enforcement agency is investigating the accident.

241:2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
