STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Five

AN ACT relative to vacancies in the office of United States senator.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Elections; Vacancies Among Public Officers; United States Senator; Consent of the Council Added. Amend RSA 661:5 to read as follows:

661:5 United States Senator. If a vacancy occurs in the office of United States senator, the governor, with the consent of the council, shall fill the vacancy by temporary appointment until the next state general election, when a senator shall be elected for the unexpired term.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
