STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Five
AN ACT relative to general qualifications for elective office.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Elections; Nominations; General Qualifications; Citizenship. Amend RSA 655:1 to read as follows:
655:1 Citizenship. To hold any elective office in the state, a person must be a citizen of the United States of America, either by birth or by naturalization. Any person born or naturalized a citizen of the United States and who resides in the state of New Hampshire shall be a citizen of the sovereign state of New Hampshire.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
