AN ACT relative to requirements of property appraisal companies.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Five

AN ACT relative to requirements of property appraisal companies.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Appraisals of Property; Company Requirements. Amend RSA 21-J:11 by inserting after paragraph I the following new paragraph:

I-a. Every person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business of making appraisals on behalf of a municipality for tax assessment purposes in this state shall:

(a) Implement procedures for responding to questions and complaints of municipal officials and citizens.

(b) Make available marketing information used to set value. Access to the information by assessing officials and taxpayers shall include evening and weekend business hours.

(c) Send a draft to the taxpayer of the taxpayer’s assessing valuation card prior to adoption by the selectmen or assessing officials.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
