STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Five
A RESOLUTION declaring the month of April 2005 to be Boston Red Sox Month.
Whereas, after being 3 outs from elimination in the 2004 Major League Baseball playoffs; and
Whereas, after trailing the New York Yankees 3 games to none in the 2004 American League Championship Series; and
Whereas, after being the first team in the history of Major League Baseball to come back from a 3 games to none deficit to win a championship; and
Whereas, with their World Series victory, the Boston Red Sox avenged their 1946 and 1967 World Series losses to the St. Louis Cardinals; and
Whereas, with their victory, the Boston Red Sox have placed the label of “greatest choke in the history of professional sports” on the New York Yankees; and
Whereas, with their victory, the Boston Red Sox have ended 86 years of suffering for the people of New England; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
That April 2005 be declared Boston Red Sox Month in New Hampshire; and
That the New Hampshire general court hereby salutes the entire Boston Red Sox organization for bringing a World Series championship to New England; and
That copies of this resolution be sent by the senate clerk to the Boston Red Sox organization with the request that it be prominently displayed in Fenway Park.
