AN ACT relative to Volunteer NH.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

AN ACT relative to Volunteer NH.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

55:1 Volunteer NH; Board of Directors. Amend RSA 19-H:1, II to read as follows:

II. The members in subparagraph (a) shall serve for renewable terms of [one, 2, or] 3 years. The terms for members listed in subparagraphs (b) through [(f)] (e) shall be coterminous with their term of office. Vacancies shall be filled for the remainder of the term in the same manner and from the same group as the original appointment.

55:2 Executive Director of Volunteer NH. RSA 19-H:1, III is repealed and reenacted to read as follows:

III. The board shall appoint an executive director who shall be qualified by reason of education and experience and who shall serve at the pleasure of the board of directors.

55:3 New Paragraph; Volunteer NH Staff. Amend RSA 19-H:1 by inserting after paragraph III the following new paragraph:

IV. The executive director may employ staff, in addition to using the services of volunteers, to carry out the responsibilities and programs of Volunteer NH.

55:4 Duties of Volunteer NH; Reference to Advisory Council Removed. Amend RSA 19-H:4, I to read as follows:

I. The board may organize [an advisory council and] program committees to develop, promote, execute, sustain, and provide education and recognition to volunteer activities and programs in New Hampshire.

55:5 Repeal. The following are repealed:

I. RSA 19-H:1, I(f), relative to the chairperson of the Volunteer NH advisory council.

II. RSA 19-H:2, relative to no state compensation for the executive director of Volunteer NH.

III. RSA 19-H:3, relative to Volunteer NH staff.

55:6 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
