STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six

A RESOLUTION urging the President to find it necessary to drawdown the strategic petroleum reserve.

Whereas, recent global and national events have caused a severe energy supply interruption by significantly reducing available oil and gas for a prolonged period; and

Whereas, this severe energy supply interruption has caused a severe increase in the price of petroleum products; and

Whereas, such price increases have already caused a major adverse impact on the national economy; and

Whereas, such price increases are likely to cause additional major adverse impacts on the national economy; and

Whereas, a cold winter is likely to enhance these adverse impacts and their effect on working families and businesses; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the New Hampshire general court hereby urges the President of the United States to find that drawdown and sale of petroleum products from the strategic petroleum reserve are required by a severe energy supply interruption, and to forward such finding to the Secretary of Energy; and

That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the President of the United States and to each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
