STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nine
AN ACT relative to sale of human remains.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
156:1 Preservation of State Historic Resources; Prohibited Acts. Amend RSA 227-C:8-i to read as follows:
227-C:8-i Prohibited Acts. No person shall:
I. Knowingly acquire any human remains removed from unmarked burials in New Hampshire after January 1, 1987, except in accordance with the provisions of this chapter;
II. Knowingly exhibit [or sell] any human remains acquired from unmarked burials in New Hampshire; [or]
III. Knowingly sell any human remains; or
[III.] IV. Knowingly retain human remains acquired from unmarked burials in New Hampshire after January 1, 1987, for scientific analysis beyond a period of time provided for such analysis pursuant to the provisions of RSA 227-C:8-d through 8-f, with the exception of those remains curated under the provisions of RSA 227-C:8-g.
156:2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
