AN ACT relative to retired judges over 70 years of age.

ANALYSIS

This bill clarifies that retired judges over 70 years of age shall not serve as judges in any judicial capacity except as judicial referees.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Ten

AN ACT relative to retired judges over 70 years of age.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Retired Justices Over 70 Years of Age. Amend RSA 493-A by inserting after section 1-b the following new section:

493-A:1-c Retired Justices Over 70 Years of Age. No justice who has reached the mandatory retirement age of 70 years shall serve as a judge in any judicial capacity, except as a judicial referee pursuant to this chapter.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
