STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Ten

AN ACT requiring certified copies of birth certificates for nominees for president and vice-president.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Nomination by Nomination Papers. Amend RSA 655:53 to read as follows:

655:53 By Nomination Papers. Candidates for president and vice-president may be nominated by nomination papers as provided in RSA 655:40 through 655:45. The names of the candidates shall not appear on the ballot unless the secretary of state has received certified copies of the birth certificates of the candidates.

2 Nomination of Presidential Electors. Amend RSA 655:54 to read as follows:

655:54 Nomination of Presidential Electors. Presidential electors shall be nominated by state party conventions as provided in RSA 667:21. The names of the party’s nominees for president and vice-president shall not appear on the ballot unless the secretary of state has received certified copies of the birth certificates of the presidential and vice-presidential nominees.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
