HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES

RESOLUTION No. 23

Memorializing State Representative George N. Katsakiores of Derry

WHEREAS, we have learned with great sorrow of the death of our friend and colleague, George N. Katsakiores, who was in his fourteenth term of dedicated service to his Derry constituents; and

WHEREAS, George Katsakiores was a true son of Derry, having been born there and, with the exception of time in school and military service, lived there his entire long and productive life; and

WHEREAS, first elected to the House on November 2, 1982, George Katsakiores spent two terms on the Committee on Legislative Administration, two terms on the Committee on State and Federal Relations and his entire twenty-eight years of service on the Transportation Committee, serving four years as Chairman, four years as Chairman Emeritus and two years as Honorary Chairman; and

WHEREAS, George Katsakiores, while known for having a propensity for being somewhat of a free spirit when it came to being on time, was possessed of a very warm and friendly manner, enjoying his colleagues and serving as a mentor and guide for new members of his committee, regardless of their political affiliation – a trait appreciated by many new legislators over the years; and

WHEREAS, George Katsakiores served the citizens of Derry as a member of many governmental, civic and charitable boards and committees, as well as serving his country in the United States Army during World War II; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives in Regular Session convened, that George N. Katsakiores be granted the highest of accolades for his outstanding and dedicated service to his community, his state and his country, and be it further

RESOLVED, that expressions of heartfelt sympathy be extended to his family and all who loved him, and that a suitable copy of this Resolution be prepared for presentation to his family.
