AN ACT relative to retirement system service credit for employment as a full-time police officer with the university system of New Hampshire.

This bill allows persons with prior service as a full-time police officer with the university system of New Hampshire to purchase such service as creditable service in the retirement system.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Ten
AN ACT relative to retirement system service credit for employment as a full-time police officer with the university system of New Hampshire.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Retirement System; Credit for Certain Prior Group II Service. Amend RSA 100-A by inserting after section 4-c the following new section:
100-A:4-d Credit for Certain Prior Service; Group II Permanent Police Members. Upon becoming employed by a retirement system employer, credit for prior service as a regular full-time police officer for the university system of New Hampshire, in a job which requires full certification as a police officer in this state, may be purchased as group II permanent policeman service. Upon certification by the New Hampshire retirement system of eligibility for prior service credit, and upon payment by the member of the cost of such credit, and with the approval of the board of trustees, the member shall receive credit for such out-of-state service. In no case shall service purchased as creditable service in the New Hampshire retirement system under the provisions of this section be deemed to be creditable service for the purposes of eligibility for medical benefits after retirement under the provisions of RSA 100-A:52 through 100-A:55 or RSA 21-I:26 through 21-I:36.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.

SB 470-FN - FISCAL NOTE
AN ACT relative to retirement system service credit for employment as a full-time police officer with the university system of New Hampshire.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Office of Legislative Budget Assistant is unable to complete a fiscal note for this bill as it is awaiting information from the New Hampshire Retirement System. When completed, the fiscal note will be forwarded to the Senate Clerk's Office.
