This resolution condemns the governments of Quebec and Canada for taking the private business of a New Hampshire resident and asserts that such actions violate the North American Free Trade Agreement.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eleven

A RESOLUTION condemning the taking of a private business by a foreign government.

Whereas, in May 2008 the government of Quebec illegally took away the private business of New Hampshire resident William Greiner; and

Whereas, the government of Quebec violated the North American Free Trade Act by its taking of the private business of William Greiner; and

Whereas, the governments of Quebec and Canada have not been forthcoming relative to the illegal taking of William Greiner's private business; and

Whereas, the governments of Quebec and Canada have been disingenuous towards William Greiner and those who have inquired on his behalf in the nearly 3 years since the business was taken away from William Greiner; and

Whereas, the government of Quebec took away the private business of William Greiner for political reasons as well as the fact that he is a United States citizen; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the New Hampshire House of Representatives hereby condemns the illegal taking of a private business by a foreign government and demands a detailed explanation of this illegal taking and violation of the North American Free Trade Act; requests an appearance before the New Hampshire legislature by those Quebec government officials who made the decision to take away this business, including Mrs. Nathalie Normandeau, for direct testimony, requests an appearance before the New Hampshire legislature by Mr. Patrick Muzzi, who authored a letter dated May 11, 2010 to Commissioner Bald, for an explanation of the letter and why this matter was not resolved, and demands immediate compensation by the governments of Quebec and Canada for this illegal seizure; and

That copies of this resolution, signed by the speaker of the house of representatives, be sent by the house clerk to the responsible Canadian officials, including Mrs. Nathalie Normandeau and Mr. Patrick Muzzi, and to each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
