STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT relative to civil actions for defamation.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Chapter; Defamation. Amend RSA by inserting after chapter 507-E the following new chapter:

CHAPTER 507-F

DEFAMATION

507-F:1 Defamation; Damages. A plaintiff who prevails in a civil action for defamation, libel, or slander shall be awarded at least $5,000 in damages by the court.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2013.
