AN ACT relative to disqualification of certain members of the general court.

This bill provides that a vacancy occurs if a member of the general court simultaneously is an employee of or regularly receives remuneration of any sort from a party, a political committee of a political party, or a lobbyist.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT relative to disqualification of certain members of the general court.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Vacancy. Amend RSA 652:12, VI(c) to read as follows:

(c) The selectmen of any town or ward in the district from which the member is elected request of the governor and council that the office be declared vacant[.]; or

2 New Paragraph; Vacancy; Prohibited Remuneration. Amend RSA 652:12 by inserting after paragraph VI the following new paragraph:

VII. Is a member of the general court and simultaneously is an employee of or regularly receives remuneration of any sort from:

(a) A party, as defined in RSA 652:11;

(b) A political committee of a political party, as defined in RSA 664:2, V; or

(c) A lobbyist required to register under RSA 15.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
