STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT limiting credit card interchange fees charged to merchants.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; Revolving Credit Plans; Credit Interchange Fees Limited. Amend RSA 384-G by inserting after section 10 the following new section:

384-G:10-a Credit Interchange Fees. No bank shall charge a person doing business in this state who accepts a credit card or debit card issued by the bank as payment for goods or services an interchange fee, or “swipe fee,” that exceeds one percent of the payment.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2013.
