STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve
AN ACT requiring the disclosure to patients and prospective patients of the charges for medical procedures.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Patient Information; Request for Charges for Services. Amend RSA 332-I:2, I(b) to read as follows:
(b) The patient has the right to receive information from the health care provider and to discuss the benefits, risks, and costs of appropriate treatment alternatives. Accordingly, every patient and every prospective patient shall be entitled, upon his or her request, to be informed in advance and in writing of the charges for services.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
