AN ACT relative to the study committee on juvenile delinquency and children in need of services.

ANALYSIS

This bill increases the number of legislative members on the study committee on juvenile delinquency and children in need of services. The bill also increases the quorum and extends the committee reporting date by one year.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT relative to the study committee on juvenile delinquency and children in need of services.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Membership of Committee to Study the Juvenile Delinquency and Child in Need of Services Statutes. Amend 2011, 105:2, I to read as follows:

I. The members of the committee shall be as follows:

(a) [Three] Five members of the house of representatives, appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

(b) [One member] Two members of the senate, appointed by the president of the senate.

2 Quorum Increased and Reporting Date Extended. Amend 2011, 105:4 and 5 to read as follows:

105:4 Chairperson; Quorum. The members of the study committee shall elect a chairperson from among the members. The first meeting of the committee shall be called by the first-named house member. The first meeting of the committee shall be held within 45 days of the effective date of this section. [Three] Four members of the committee shall constitute a quorum.

105:5 Report. The committee shall report its findings and any recommendations for proposed legislation to the speaker of the house of representatives, the president of the senate, the house clerk, the senate clerk, the governor, and the state library on or before November 1, [2011] 2012.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
