STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Thirteen
AN ACT requiring optometrists to warn parents about the progression of myopia when prescribing distance lenses for children.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Optometry; Warning Required. Amend RSA 327 by inserting after section 34 the following new section:
327:35 Warning Required; Progression of Myopia. An optometrist prescribing corrective lenses for distance vision for a minor child shall warn the parents or guardian of the child of the progression of myopia related to the prescription of such corrective lenses. The board may supply suitable quantities of an explanatory publication for practitioners to provide such warning to the parents of minor children.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
