STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Thirteen

AN ACT relative to the mathematics requirement for high school graduation.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; State Board of Education; Rulemaking. Amend RSA 186:8 by inserting after paragraph VI the following new paragraph:

VII. The state board of education shall adopt rules, pursuant to RSA 541-A, to establish a 4-year high school mathematics program as a requirement for graduation. The rules shall be implemented in the 2015-16 school year and shall include the study of mathematics in mathematics-specific courses or courses in which mathematics is embedded as part of the course, during each year a student is enrolled in high school.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
